These days it seems that you can find a smoothie shop at just about every street corner. But what’s going into these smoothies? Are the ingredients natural or are they processed to the point where they lose all their goodness? And what if you want to try a different set of flavors that’s not on the menu? That’s where a homemade smoothie scores – you can make a truly healthy smoothie using your favorite flavors – and you can have it as thick or creamy or nutty as you like. I’m sharing my recipe for a fresh strawberry smoothie with oats, bananas, and chia seeds. It is thick, creamy, and loaded with flavor.

I used the oats for added texture and thickness and used frozen strawberries instead of fresh ones – that can make a world of difference between a thick, cold smoothie and a thin, lukewarm one. This healthy strawberry smoothie is a great breakfast meal for the entire family.

Ingredients

Ingredients for strawberry smoothie

1. 2 scoops of Slurrp Farm Organic Oats Cereal

2. 1 cup water Water

3. 3-4 strawberries

4. 1 – medium-sized banana

5. 1 cup milk

6. Slurrp Farm Jaggery to taste

7. 1 tsp Slurrp Farm Chia Seed

Instructions

1. Boil the water in a saucepan. Then add two scoops of the oats cereal and mix well to remove any lumps

2. Cook the mix on a low flame, stirring constantly for 2-5 minutes until the mixture comes to a boil

3. Turn off the gas and transfer the mixture to a bowl and let it cool

4. Transfer the mix to a blender and add the strawberries, banana, milk, and jaggery, and blend it all thoroughly

Blend thoroughly

5. Your healthy smoothie is ready. Pour it into a jar and serve

 

Handy tips to add more flavor to your strawberry smoothie:

1.   You could add a few drops of vanilla extract or a spoonful of honey if you want a different kind of sweetness

2.   Boost your fresh fruit and oat smoothie with proteins by adding a tablespoon of almond butter
